Top 10 Furniture Manufacturers

Finding the Best Furniture Manufacturers

When you begin decorating a home, it’s important to consider where you will source your furniture. Large pieces are important purchases. Ideally, they will bring comfort, beauty, and joy to your household for years to come. The best items are sustainably sourced, expertly assembled, and built to last. Today, we’d like to highlight ten of our favorite furniture manufacturers that are carried here at Prevalent Projects.

Ethnicraft

For more than twenty-five years, Ethnicraft has created classic, timeless furniture. Each piece is crafted out of solid wood. Founders Benoit Loos and Philippe Delaisse sought to bring simplicity and innovation to every room of the home. Their vision? Pieces that withstand trends and blend into spaces with any type of design style. Today, their dedication to outstanding craftsmanship and beautiful aesthetics has built one of our favorite furniture brands.

Skagerak

Our next team of furniture manufacturers has been in business since the 70s. Skagerak is a Denmark-based, family-owned company. Their aim is to design pieces that will last generations. Every item in their inventory is responsibly produced from sustainably sourced materials. Their website includes an interactive map that reveals where each of their textiles come from. Skagerak is an excellent source of Scandinavian-inspired indoor and outdoor furniture.

Fredericia

Originally Fredericia Stolefabrik (literally “Fredericia chair factory”), this family-owned design company has been building beautiful pieces since 1911. From the very beginning, this Scandinavian furniture brand gained a reputation for an impressive level of craftsmanship. In today’s market, they have become one of the top furniture manufacturers in the world. Fredericia’s chairs reflect a passion for sculptural elegance and contemporary design.

ercol

Next, we’d like to highlight a British brand steeped in more than a century of history. Italian designer Lucian R Ercolani founded ercol in High Wycombe: the center of English furniture making. In 2021, the company is still in the family. It is owned by Lucian’s grandson and great-grandson, who seek to bring his vision of relevant, “honest” furniture to homes worldwide. Each piece is designed and assembled by in-house technicians. Function, comfort, and looks are of equal importance to the ercol team.

GUBI

GUBI describes itself as a daring, elegant collection of furniture, interior objects, and lighting that resonates around the world. We’re inclined to agree. Their team strives to bring “forgotten icons of the past” back into the spotlight. Based in Copenhagen, GUBI is operated by the son of founders Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen. Their handpicked edit of quality furniture revives pieces like the Robert Dudley Best Bestlite Lamp (1930, Bauhaus-inspired) and GamFratesi’s Beetle Chair (2013).

&Tradition

One of our favorite furniture manufacturers is &Tradition: the perfect blend of old and new. Their quality-made furniture, lighting, and objects offer modern aesthetics and timeless appeal. &Tradition’s line is an eclectic mix of design giants (Verner Panton’s Flowerpot lamp sits well next to Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen’s Mayor sofa). They regularly re-release mid-century classics while creating contemporary pieces in collaboration with acclaimed designers. If you’re looking for a blend of quirk and quality, &Tradition is the brand for you.

Sun At Six

Do you love clean lines, elegant corners, and head-turning details? Sun at Six may be your favorite of our furniture manufacturers. Their studio believes that spaces “influence our choices, how we live, and how we feel.” They hope to curate a line of sustainably sourced, house-made furniture that fosters relationships with the people we cherish most. Because Sun At Six works with master craftsmen experienced in Chinese joinery techniques, their pieces are built without nails or screws. They are finished with natural tenna oil that the team makes in-house. We appreciate their unique approach to design and construction.

NORR11

While many of the creators on this list focus on reviving the old, NORR11 aims to break new ground. Each page of their catalog bursts with personality, character, and comfort. This Danish company “fuses Scandinavian design with Asian aesthetics,” and the result is nothing short of stunning. If you’re in the market for playful couches, eccentric dining room sets, and conversation-starting side tables, NORR11 is the manufacturer for you!

Muuto

Muuto offers “new perspectives on Scandinavian design.” By combining enduring aesthetics with futuristic materials, this brand has achieved its mission. Tactility is central to their design language. Muuto focuses on the little things that make a piece your favorite: the feeling of running your hand over a soft fabric or the way a light switch clicks. Each item of furniture is practical, but it’s also a sensory experience sure to impress.
