  • Proper usage and maintenance

Proper usage and maintenance is vital for getting the most out of the valuable resources we have. Our designs are made to last for generations, but just like everything else, they need a little care to get there.

  • Fibre Concrete

    Why
Fibre concrete is made from special concrete mix which is extremely strong and withstands water and frost far better than ordinary concrete. The strength of the mix makes it possible to mould even thin constructions, and the charcoal-grey colour patinates over time in lighter, greyish nuances that underline the raw look.

    Cleaning
Use soapy water and wipe with a dry cloth. Make sure only to wipe along the lines of the material. Note: Stains from red wine, berries, jam etc. cannot be removed, so be extra careful when using this product.

    Maintenance
Since the open structure of the material is receptive to grease and colour it will eventually embrace a beautiful patina. If you wish to fresh up the surface, we recommend the following steps:

    1. Put the table on set ground (not grass or similar) and put on goggles and rubber gloves
    2. Water down the table thoroughly with a water hose
    3. Wash the table with a blend of lemon acid and water (1:2-3). Use a hand scrubber/brush e.g. from 3M. Repeat this step. It is important that this is done with running water and a consistent direction following the short length of the table.
    4. Let the table dry for 1-2 days in a garage or similar
    5. Add a suitable paste (follow instructions on the product)
    6. Let the table dry for 24 hours

    Winter Storage
During the winter it is advisable to store the furniture in an unheated room such as a garage or cellar. However, it is possible to use the furniture outside all year round.

  • Teak

    Origin
Teak is commonly found in Southeast Asia, Central and South America. Our FSC-certified Teak comes from Central America, Brazil and Indonesia, while our non-certified Teak comes from plantations in Southeast Asia and Trinidad; managed to sustain a renewable and reliable supply of wood.

    Why
Teak is a heavy, hard and sturdy type of wood. The high content of natural oils makes it highly weather and rot resistant and is therefore a good choice for outdoor furniture.

    Cleaning
Do a general cleaning when needed with a suitable wood cleaner and soft bristle brush. Rinse afterwards with clear water and let it dry. Note: Wipe off tables, benches and chairs after dinner and such with a dry cloth.

    Maintenance
As the wood is untreated, the surface will patinate over time and eventually turn into a beautiful silvery grey colour. If you wish to preserve or intensify the original honey-golden colour, use a suitable furniture oil on a regular basis. No matter what you choose, the wood will be resistant to everyday wind and weather thanks to the high content of natural oils.

    Winter storage
During winter we advise you to store the furniture in an unheated room such as a garage or cellar.

    Indoor use
The wood has been dried for outdoor use. Hence, if you wish to use the furniture indoors it may need to be re-tightened once in a while.

  • Stainless Steel

    Why
Stainless steel is a timeless and long-lasting material with a superb corrosion resistance – easy to maintain. The material strength enables designs with thin profiles and various forms and patterns. That makes it perfect for outdoor design in all kinds of wind and weather.

    Cleaning
Use soapy water and wipe with a dry cloth. Stainless steel needs only to be cleaned for aesthetic considerations and to preserve corrosion resistance.

    Maintenance
The steel might tarnish a little when used outdoors for a long time. You can freshen it up by using a polish such as Gleerustol metal polish which will easily remove the tarnish and protect the steel in the future.

    Caution
When using special care products you should avoid all contact with wood in order not to damaging the surface. Do not use any kind of products containing chlorine as this will damage the surface and make it vulnerable to corrosion.

    Winter storage
The product is functional in all types of wind and weather, all year round. However, during wintertime, it is advisable to store the furniture in an unheated room such as a garage or cellar.
